This month I'm working on new pieces for the Hampstead Affordable Art Fair in a few weeks.
This week I'm back to working on the insects! But something a little easier on the eye for most people... I've been wanting to make a furry moth for a while now and I'm pleased with how this piece has turned out. Its hard to tell from the photo but he has 69cm wingspan...so you wouldn't want this guy round your light bulbs!
After a few weeks working on things of the 6 legged variety I've started work on some 2 legged (and winged) pieces.
This week I've been working on Bugs! Many of us (myself included) call insects bugs but most of the time this is incorrect. This fella is a true bug, a 'shield bug' to be precise. I get lots of these in my vegetable patch in the summer, they seem to like my bean plants - thankfully they don't do any harm! Hope you like him!
Went to Barcelona for the weekend and found an amazing flea market! So many bits and me with only space for hand luggage!!
As a follow up to the last post here's an image of the 'Devil's Flower Mantis' all finished - this piece together with a large cricket were made as a commission for an insect lover!
Thought I'd share a photo of a devils flower mantis commission I'm working on at the moment. I'm really pleased with how its turned out, just need to give him some wings and he's ready to fly off!
So last week I posted an image of all the component parts of a piece I was working on and asked you to guess what it will become! As you can see all the parts (minus the bits that made the perch) made a cockatoo!
I received a brilliant book for Christmas called 'Things come apart' by Todd McLellan. Its photographs of modern gadgets all laid out in there component parts. So Its inspired me to try it out for myself - Below are all the bits that go into making a creature I'm working on at the moment...have a guess what these bits will become!
I'll post the answer next week when I've made it :-)
Happy new year to you all! It's been tough trying to get back into the swing of things after the Christmas break. But my first post is an image of this little hermit crab - the first piece of 2017! Hope you like him :-)
I have some little birds looking for new homes this Christmas :-) They are £195 each, this includes UK P&P. First is a male house sparrow, next a great tit and finally a pair of cruet birds (£195 for the pair). They are approximately 10cm high. Message for more details/images/full measurements.
The Hybrid gallery Christmas show. Running from November 19 - December 23
These 2 little cruet song birds will be on show along with other pieces. If you look closely you can see me waving ;-)
